Deepa Bharatkumar

I was born into and raised by a family and culture of Yogic practices in India. Unknowingly at first as a child, but in some way I have been a lifelong practitioner of Yoga.
Yoga is free from stress, bias & competition and teaches that through Asana, Pranayama, relaxation and a good diet, when practiced along with meditation, you can align your body and mind to bring peace, universal acceptance, love and joy to your spirit. Yoga can be life-altering and I am privileged to be a channel to bring this positivity and joy into your life.
I was formally trained as a Yoga Teacher at the International Sivananda Vedanta Centre at Sivananda Kutir, Netala, Uttarkashi in the Himalayas. The Sivananda Teachers Training Course is a month-long, residential, intensive, full-time module at an Ashram where the teachers, volunteers and students live, eat and work together on their Yoga practice. The ashram life is that of an ascetic - simple accommodations in dormitories, simple saatvic food served only two times per day at fixed times and a rigorous study and practice schedule free from distractions.

I moved to Portland, OR from India in the summer of 2017 and I’m delighted to find that Portland is buzzing with Yoga studios - it was something I had not expected.
I am honoured & excited to be engaged with the Yoga On Yamhill studio and I look forward to deepening our understanding and practice of Yoga together.
